Why should you fundraise?

Fundraising is very important and requires a lot of effort to be successful, but the rewards are worth it. A suggestion is to physically deposit $15-$20 a week into an account specifically for your child’s camp tuition. If you are planning on fundraising it is EXTREMELY important that you begin immediately. It is highly recommend you start writing letters to your local Lions Club, church, or other organizations to ask for assistance with funding in the fall. They are absolutely great! Waiting until spring will only decrease your chances of receiving funds from organizations.

Bratfest

Wisconsin has a bratfest  event that happens in Madison every year during the Memorial Day weekend.  It’s a fun-filled event. Brats, corns, and ice-cream is sold at the event. Parents, and campers will get a chance to work  different shifts all weekend so they can help fundraise funds.  Bratfest will calculate the total amount that was earned by the KODA Midwest group. Once the calculated check is sent to KODA Camp Midwest then Karen will check  the list, and deposit whatever money the camper raised from this event into their account.  The Bratfest event is usually announced either on Facebook and via e-mail in late February or early March.  An email will be sent out to the campers and their families about this.  If you are interested in being a part of the event you need to contact Karen Voss before the end of January to be placed on the list. The Bratfest volunteer list fills up real fast. Check to see if your state has a similar event.

Be sure to use KODA Camp Midwest as your charity.

Sales

Time to clean out your house and get rid of stuff you don’t need!  If you are crafty why don’t you think about making something to sell! Etsy.com is a great way to sell homemade crafts! Accounts are free.) Advertising your special skills is another great idea! If you love to walk dogs, babysit, or want to provide some other service then let your neighbors and community know! Bake sales are also a great idea! If you don’t want to end up with leftover cookies then you can take orders for your special homemade cookies ahead of time!

Meal Fundraising, or Bunco Parties

Host a spaghetti dinner, pancake brunch,  or something along that path and invite the community to attend. It is a lot of work, you will need volunteers, but the payoff should be more than worth it!

Pizza Fundraising

It works well for some families.  It is recommended that several families work together.

Sports Events

Sign up for a college concession stand and work there for several days/nights depending on their schedule and earn a certain percent of their sales. Set up a KODA group in your city and sign up for local concession stands.  It required a team of one or two persons to fully commit to attend every game to ensure consistency to work with the lead person.  It is worth a try.  How about major sport events?  It is fun and intense (not to mention for a great cause, your kids)!
