This a pilot program is created for donors who are looking to be more involved with KODA Camp by matching with a camper who is in need of financial assistance.

Often KODA Campers come to came with difficult circumstances. Over 30% of our KODA Campers attend KODA Camp Midwest with various scholarships, however the need for scholarships is great. The Adopt-A-Camper program allows all KODAs, regardless of their financial situation, to experience the growth KODA Camp Midwest provides for KODAs in their journey of identity and belonging.

How the program works:

A donor contacts KODA Camp and lets KODA Camp know they are interested in donating to KODA Camp to adopt a camper. A camper fills out the application to apply to the program. The $200 deposit must be paid before consideration is made. A donor can select a camper to sponsor or let the scholarship committee match the donor to the camper. The donor can chose to remain anonymous or public. KODA Camp understand the demand for camp scholarships is high, only a certain number of campers will match to the number of donors available.

For Campers

Thank you for your interest in the Adopt-a-Camper program! KODA Camp Midwest seeks for many opportunities to provide financial assistance for the campers.

A camper's family must pay the $200 deposit to reserve camper's spot at camp. If the amount of the sponsorship covers the total cost of camp, the deposit will be refunded after a camp session.
Campers must fill out the application here:

Application will open on January 15th and close February 15th.

Requested amount can be a total up to $1,000 per camper for youths and teens, $500 for kids. Deadline to apply is 02/15/2023.
Campers would find out if they received the scholarship by March 1st, 2023.
Send a thank you letter to your donor after the camp of what you learned and thanking them for their gift.

For Donors

Every dollar makes an impact, and any donation of any size is appreciated.

To donate to the program follow these steps:

Reach out to Karen (karen@kodamidwest.org) or Maris (maris@kodamidwest.org) with an email titling "Donation to the Adopt-a-camper program" to ensure we have your contact information and if you wish to remain anonymous or publicly recognized.
Donate to KODA Camp your desired gift amount.

Donor receive a list of campers applying for the program, their names will be anonymous but will identifiers such as age and gender.
- If donor have a specific camper in mind, no application is needed. Karen will keep a donor and recipient's parents in loop.
The scholarship committee will match sponsorship with a camper in need if a donor choose not to pick a camper.
Receive a letter from your camper after camp, see your name listed in the annual report under the adopt-a-camper sponsors, and see your name in a dedicated Instagram/Facebook post thanking adopt-a-camper sponsors. You can chose to be publicly named or remain anonymous.
