Remember the days at KODA Camp when we created our very own Hobo Meal? It hasn't been brought back to camp in a while, but let's reminisce on those Hobo meals and how to make them! Here’s what you’ll need to create your own hobo meal at home.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Heavy Duty Tin Foil
Olive oil cooking spray
Here’s some suggestions for ingredients:
Meat (sausage, ground beef, pork)
Make sure this is all cut finely.
Potatoes
Carrots
Onion
Peppers
Seasonings: Italian, basil, parsley, garlic powder, paprika, thyme, salt and pepper
Instructions:
Because most people won't be cooking over a campfire at home...
Oven: preheat to 400 degrees, cook for 30-35 minutes until veggies are tender
Grill: preheat to medium-high heat
Be sure to prep! Cut your choice of veggies and meat as finely as you can to ensure proper cooking.
Make a bowl out of your tin foil, be sure to use more than just one sheet of tin foil to ensure no leaking!
Put all your ingredients into the tin foil ‘bowl’ and wrap up your tin foil.
For a mess-free cooking experience put a baking sheet underneath your tin foil to keep your oven clean.
Bake for roughly 30 minutes or until meat is thoroughly cooked.
